Making Everyday Life Sacred

Learning about feminine energy and how connected we are to cycles that exist all around us has allowed me to see the sacredness and beauty in everyday life. It really is what makes my body tingle and my soul giggle.

Where I live, most of the snow just melted and each morning the sun is shinning so bright. We have entered Spring in all her exciting glory. You can see and feel the potential of moving into light from the dark hibernating days of Winter.

The other morning, after dropping the kids off at school, I was rushing to an appointment. The sun was breaking through the clouds and like I do every time around this time of year, I get so excited about seeing brown grass and having early morning daylight, that my first instinct (and one I fall victim to every time) is to throw on a light spring jacket and my Tom shoes.

This morning as I merged from my car to walk the block to my appointment, my whole body was hugged by a light blanket of coldness, reminding me that it is not Summer yet and I am rushing the process. As I shivered walking down the street, I reflected how this is exactly how I treat my Inner Spring (my follicular phase).

Every time I come out of my bleed days and feel that rising of estrogen into my body, I get so excited that I re-emerge back into my life full force, no slow transition. Just head first in like I have the full cocktail of hormones I would have in my Inner Summer. AND…every time this happens I feel the effects a day later of how my emerging to quickly leaves me feeling exhausted and needing to slow down.

Here’s the thing! Old Kate would have never have had this moment of reflection or inspired connection to my body. I would have just picked up my pace and hurried to the building, while being slightly grumpy that it’s still cold outside.

But now, it’s in these moments that I feel my intuition heightened and my desire to see my connection to everything around me. Everyday becomes a connection to a sacred message, guiding me back to being grounded, being more present, and seeing how I can live more aligned with my feminine energy and womb that is creative and fun. Life is inspiring. Our body and cycle are mind-blowing inspiring. Tapping into this wisdom is INSPIRING.

So today as you emerge out into the world see how you may be connected to something bigger happening around you. How is this symbolically related to your cycle? And lastly, by making this connection, does it make you smile and see a new way to relate to your body?

Take time to see the Sacredness all around you.
